Small lot, single vineyard wines.

Bump Wine Cellars is a family owned and operated boutique wine producer located in Sonoma, California. We focus on small lot, single vineyard wines. Winemaker Geordie Carr strives to capture a true representation of varietal character and a sense of place. Bump Wine Cellars is proud to harvest its grapes from sustainably farmed vineyards, located throughout Sonoma County.

Geordie Carr is the winery owner and the wine maker. He grew up in Stonington, Connecticut, spending countless hours on the sea, but always felt like a farmer at heart. Moving to Colorado for college led him to the town of Crested Butte, where he spent many years skiing and biking. He completed his undergraduate degree in Entrepreneurial Business from Western State Colorado University. Most importantly, this is where he met his future wife, Mieko Imai, who convinced him to move to her home state of California. After five years in the finance industry, he found his true calling in the wine country of Sonoma. He has worked his way up from Cellar Assistant at Matanzas Creek Winery, to Cellar Master at B.R. Cohn, then Assistant Winemaker for Enkidu Winery. While at Enkidu he managed their custom crush facility and made wine for more than 12 other wine brands. Finally realizing his dream, Geordie is happy to be working with his hands, learning a centuries old craft and creating a product that can be enjoyed with family, friends, and wine enthusiasts.

Why the name Bump?

Bump is Geordie’s mother’s maiden name. She was born, Betsy Bump. It was originally Bumpass, derived from the French name Bonpasse, meaning “Good Journey”. Of course, it is also a fun word, which is easy to remember (we hope!)
